She taught Ancient and Modern Languages at a school in Quebec, Canada. Whilst there she met and married Gerald Boyle of Fairbanks, Alaska, who was a metallurgist working for a gold mining company. With a family Gerald considered this too risky, so he now holds a post with the Federal Government.
