John Oram’s diary entry for the birth of his son
“Frances Albert Born at 4 a.m. , Newport petty sessions prosecuting against fishery laws – very wet – Drawing turnips for sheep – Rain”
John Oram’s diary entry 20th Oct 1859 on receiving information that his son had died.
“Arrived at Belfast, thence to Dublin thence to Athenry – rec’d intelligence at Dublin of Dear Albert’s death”
The next day he arrives home… there is an entry in the diary but afterwards a rare three days with no entries.

left Athenry at 1 a.m. – arrived home at 9 a.m. – glad to get safe home again – poor Albe in his coffin God’s will be done “Christ is the resurrection and the life”
