Elizabeth married Gideon Pitloh whose family had lived in Harbottle for at least one generation. By 1841, perhaps earlier Gideon was the publican at The Star in Harbottle. Usually PITLOH, used on this page, not PITTOLI as in Ephraim’s will. Many variations in spelling!
The 1774 poll book, before Elizabeth’s spouse was born, includes a Gideon Pitloh of Harbottle. There is also a Gideon Pitloh baptised 1790 in Harbottle, parents Archibold and Jane but this Gideon does not seem to appear in the 1841 and later censuses. Family gravestone indicates this Gideon did not marry Elizabeth Anderson. Which Gideon was in the 1829 directory as a grocer and draper and in the 1838 and other poll books with freehold house and land in Harbottle?
