Ephraim Anderson, second son of Matthew Anderson 1784-1867 and Jane Wanless 1787-1841 born March 1819 at Lounges Knowe, near Alwinton, baptised Harbottle, Northumberland, died 26 July 1893 at Hollybrook House, Tagheen, Mayo, buried 28 July 1893 Church of Ireland graveyard Mayo Abbey with his wife Mary Ann. Married his cousin in 1843 in the Rothbury district of Northumberland

Farming in Northumberland before moving to Hollybrook in County Mayo, Ireland

At the time of the 1841 census Ephraim and his siblings were shepherds living at Carlecroft in the Upper Coquetdale. By the time of the 1851 census Ephraim had moved south to far better land becoming a farmer employing 2 labourers at Well House, Little Harle in the parish of Kirkwhelpington – Wikipedia. Matthew was probably renting the 122 acres mentioned in the census from High Sheriff Thomas Anderson, no relation, who was residing at Little Harle Tower – Wikipedia. On modern maps Well House is shown to the east of Little Harle Tower and close to the river and the boundary of the National Trust property Wallington | National Trust. Ephraim and his family soon moved to Ireland renting over 1,ooo acres around Hollybrook House.

John Anderson 1860-1943: baptised 3 January 1860 at Hollybrook, died 1943 at Hollybrook married c.1893 Clara Greated c1862-1942: born Mayo, died 1 August 1942 at Hollybrook.  Only offspring  Margaret Anderson, baptised 4 August 1896 at Hollybrook, died same day.
