Son of John Kingsley and Mary Furrian.
James bapt. 13 May 1784 is described in John’s will as “my children … James”. Interestingly John mentions the names of his son and daughter-in-laws, but does not name a wife for James. Therefore did this James marry?
Best candidate for James is:
1841 census Innkeeper James at Tring with 5yr George Kingsley, both born Hertfordshire. All at Folley. Head of Household John Griffin with wife Charlotte. James’ younger sister Charlotte m. John Griffin of Tring in 1823.
Charlotte born 22 December 1797, bapt. 30 July 1802. Their father John’s will: “My daughter .. wife of John Griffin”.
Was James visiting his sister and was also entered as:
1841 census Innkeeper James and Ann living in Biggleswade with John 15yr, Emma 12 yr, and George 8yr. All but James born in Bedfordshire.
may also be:
1851 census 67yr Retired Farmer James living in Biggleswade with wife Ann 60yr and son John Winskill Kingsley
Biggleswade baptist records show, all born in parish of Biggleswade:
1818 James so James and Susan(nah) born 4 Dec 1818 (first marriage?)
1822 William Kingsley so James and Susan born 28 Sept 1822 (first marriage?)
1826 Eliza Kingsley do James and Ann born 22 September 1826
1827 John Winskill Kingsley so James and Ann 17 Nov 1827 at Holme. He died July 1854
James Kingsley m Ann Winskill on 23 Aug 1825 by licence in London. James of the parish of Biggleswade. John, S. and M. Winskill witnesses. No info on single/widow(er)
No sign of James’ death, unless it is one of the Hitchin area deaths. He may have moved as an Ann Kingsley died in 1854 in Biggleswade and another there in 1855.
