George and Pheoba’s story:

Phoebe’s maiden name We know that Charles’s father was George as he noted on Pheobe’s death certificate that she was the widow of George Talbot, Master Confectioner and it is on his marriage certificate.  The former lead to Carolyn independently finding Pheobe’s marriage record and George’s first marriage.

1841 census Phoebe, born Diss, a confectioner living in Church St, Diss with son Charles Talbot 15yr cabinet maker and John Plummer aged 6yr [a nephew? see note below] plus a tailor and a cabinet maker.

1851 census Pheobe 58yr, born Diss, housekeeper to farmer of 67 acres Robert Murton, born Diss. Grandson Alfred Murton.  Note our Blake line included Murton.

1861 census living with her son Charles and second wife Ellen.

Note:

John Plummer with Pheobe in 1841. If the same John Plummer was with his parents in 1851 then Pheobe is connected to  Edmund Plummer 1813-? born Diss and his wife Sophia.  1851 census says 16yr old John was born in Dickleburgh and he was working for his father, a butcher.  In 1841 census butcher Edmund and Sophia are living in Dickeburgh with 2 yr William and either with or next door to 69 yr Lydia Sheldrake.  There are ancestry links to an Edmund Sheldrake Plummer in Australia…check out!.  In 1834 Sophia Parson married Edmund Plummer at Bunwell, Norfolk. Edmund’s baptism: 1813 Diss ‘natural son of ‘ Pheobe Plummer a Farmer’s daughter. SO could be illegitimate son of ‘OUR’ Pheobe.  The family moved to Victoria, Australia in the mid 1850s. Sophia died 1882 parents Ephraim Parsons and Mary Younghusband and Edmund who by then used middle name Sheldrake had died in 1878.

Looking for Lydia Sheldrake. 80 yr 1851  census born  Roydon, Norfolk near Diss. No trace.

Cicra the 1820s there was a John, a labourer and Phebe Talbot in Diss whose offspring were being baptised.

A Pheobe Plummer do James and Anne was baptised Sprowston, Norfolk 18 April 1824 may have married Charles Dew.
